NEW: Samsung Galaxy S4 Active first Look

The Samsung I9295 Galaxy S4 Active has been in our rumor mill for quite some time. The latest leaked shots reveal that the Active will be a tougher dust and water resistant version of the Galaxy S4 flagship.
The specs are expected to be the same and the live pictures below confirm it - the device is running on a quad-core 1.9GHz processor with Adreno 320 GPU, which most definitely means a Snapdragon 600 chipset. The screen supposedly has the same size and resolution as the original Galaxy S4 - a 5.0-inch 1080p unit, though it's unclear if it's a Super AMOLED one or not. Strangely enough, the reported pixel density of the phone is 480ppi, so the display might actually be smaller.
Our tipster also confirmed to us that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has an 8MP rear camera, which is a downgrade from the 13MP sensor of the Galaxy S4.

Despite the similar specs, the Galaxy S4 Active looks nothing like the original. It comes in a metallic shell with bolts on the back, and there are also three hardware buttons below the screen.
There is no official info on the Galaxy S4 Active yet, but as it turns out the handset has been showcased recently in Croatia, so an announcement is imminent.

Samsung looking to update Galaxy S4 to free up more storage space for users

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the hottest Android handsets this year, but the fact that its most popular 16GB version actually turned out to only comes with around 8GB of free storage space for end users was a disappointment. After a huge outrage from the community, and after its initial hard-headed reaction, Samsung seems to have made a 180 turn on the issue. The Korean company first said that users complaints are worthless and they should just go and get an expansion microSD card.

Now, the company is starting to change its mind about the problem with less than expected user available memory:

"We appreciate this issue being raised and we will improve our communications," Samsung spokesperson said for CNET UK. "Also, we are reviewing the possibility to secure more memory space through further software optimisation.

"Samsung is committed to listening to our customers and responding to their needs as part of our innovation process."

The dramatic lack of storage space comes from the much heavier TouchWiz interface that comes with the Galaxy S4. Many users point out that Samsung has introduced a ton of new features like gestures and eye detection that not a lot of people would use. Yet those exact features take up a lot of the internal storage on the device.

It is also true, though, that Samsung is the only company of the big ones that releases its flagship with a microSD card expansion slot. Apple and HTC for instance do not support expandable storage.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Leaked Photo

Photos of the heavily rumored but still unannounced Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini have emerged today offering prospective consumers a clear look at what appears to be Samsung’s smaller version of its current flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Samsung is heavily rumored to be coming out with two new Samsung Galaxy S4 devices this summer. The first, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ, a rugged Galaxy S4 model that is said to be dust and water resistant. The second, a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini that would follow in the footsteps of the previous Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.
The latter of the two continues to leak out ahead of its arrival and today, we have our clearest shots yet of what appears to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

Bulgarian language site SmartNews posted what appear to be photos of the smaller Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The photos, which offer a clear look at the device, line up with previously leaked photos of a device masquerading as the Galaxy S4 Mini. So it would appear that this device, with its plastic removable back and smaller display, is in fact Samsung’s upcoming small Galaxy S4.
The photos don’t offer much new in the way of features but those have seemingly already been determined. The device is thought to have a 4.3-inch qHD display, dual-core Exynos processor, 8MP camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and some of the Samsung Galaxy S4′s powerful TouchWiz software features. Exactly which ones remain to be seen but the new camera options are a safe bet.

The device has already been rumored to be coming to AT&T later on this year and with a launch rumored for the next few weeks, we could finally see it emerge after a lengthy bout of rumors.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will join the larger Galaxy S4 which hit shelves around the world last month and features a much larger 5-inch 1080p display.

NEW NEXUS SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 WITH STOCK ANDROID

The best cellphone hardware has been crippled by manufacturer and carrier bloatware and skins, and Google's Nexus lineup has been hamstrung by a lack of LTE and somewhat inadequate specifications. But we've just gotten a look at the big surprise of Google's I/O keynote, a Samsung Galaxy S4 running stock Android, and suddenly we have visions of a world in which we don't have to choose between features and design, between timely updates and cutting-edge specs.

We tracked down Android VP Hugo Barra as he traipsed around the Moscone Center, and grilled him about his S4 while snapping a few pictures along the way. Details are still somewhat scant — as is what's sure to be an interesting backstory — but Barra said simply that "it's pretty awesome." Battery life is great, he told us, and the phone was fast and responsive as he toured us around the operating system. It's not a finished product, he said, having really only come together in the last week. (Barra knows his Android, by the way – he quickly rearranged his home screen icons to their default position before showing us the device.)

We liked a lot about the Galaxy S4 as it is, but now that Google has coupled Samsung's great camera and display with the purest form of Android (and LTE support), this Nexus phone might quickly find our pockets $649 lighter come June 26th.

'MULTI-WINDOW' ON SAMSUNG GALAXY S4

Samsung's full-screen multi-tasking feature returns on the Galaxy S4. Here's where to find it and how to use.

A favorite feature of the Galaxy Note 2, Samsung's 'Multi-window' multitasking capability is included out of the box on the Galaxy S4. It's probably one of the coolest software tricks Samsung has come up with to date, but it's easily overlooked if you don't know it's there.
To use Multi-window, you'll first need to enable it in the quick settings area. Drag the notification bar down, hit the block icon in the top right corner and make sure "Multi-window" is lit up. From there, you can toggle the Multi-window bar on or off by long-pressing the back key. It's possible to move the bar around by long-pressing the rounded tab while it's open. (To move the tab up or down, simply long-press and drag up or down when the bar doesn't have focus.)
Not all apps are compatible with Multi-window, but you've got a decent selection of Samsung and Google apps to choose from. It's also possible to remove apps you don't use from the Multi-window bar by hitting "edit" and dragging their icons into the blank space.
Using the Multi-window bar is easy enough -- to load an app in full-screen move, tap it, To load it in the top or bottom portion of the screen, long-press and drag it into place. With two apps sharing the screen, you can change the way things are divided by dragging the dividing line. Around that line you'll also see three buttons -- one for swapping apps, another to make the current app full-screen, and another to close it. Flip into landscape mode and the apps themselves will rotate, but the dividing line will remain in place.
It might not work with every app, but Multi-window is still one of our favorite TouchWiz features, and if you're a big multi-tasker -- or just someone who wants to watch YouTube and browse the web simultaneously -- it could be really useful. CREDIT TO: ANDROIDCENTRAL
